We say the word "Amen" a lot - WHY?

We always say “Amen” at the end of our prayers. Why do we do that? Is there another way to “sign off” in our prayers such as “that’s all”, “talk to You later, Lord”, or “goodbye”.
Jesus warned us not to repeat meaningless phrases when we pray (Matthew 6:7). Is ending our prayers with “Amen” just a meaningless ritual, or is there a richness to the word that we are missing?
Let's start by looking at the meaning of the word in the Old Testament and then see how Jesus used the very same word many, many times in the New Testament.
