We collect offerings of money in every service - WHY?

There are some things we do when we worship together that are super-important to us, but we seldom explain WHY we do them. We believe there is power in purpose – so we want you to know the purpose for what we do. Because once you know the WHY behind the purpose, the WHAT/HOW/HOW MUCH should become a lot clearer.

Every Sunday when we gather we set aside a time in the middle of our worship to ask people to give their money. We have a special prayer about the offering. WHY do we do that?

Part of the answer is that we have facilities and ministry programs that cost money to fund and staff and maintain. And they are all supported entirely by the free-will financial gifts of our members.

There is nothing to spend for ministry if our members don’t give. So, we could stop right there and call our question answered: we collect offerings because we need them in order to do the work of the church. But that is not the underlying reason for our giving; that is not enough; that is not the big WHY.

Let's look at Luke 8 and see three compelling reasons WHY.
