We sing a lot when we worship - WHY?

Singing is something that needs no explanation, because it is universal. Singing is a gift from God that He gave to no other created thing. God invites us to worship Him with singing – but He doesn’t prescribe exactly how. He gives us no direction on tunes, tempos, rhythms, or styles. We just know that God likes the old songs: like the psalm we will be reading. And He also likes new songs. God wants some of His children to compose new songs, play new tunes, and write new lyrics – and then sing them to Him in praise.

Music and singing takes up about half of every service. That’s a lot of time spent doing just one activity when we gather together. Psalm 98 is going to explain why we sing when we are together.
