I AM the True Vine
Big Idea: True disciples of Jesus remain connected to Him and bear much fruit glorifying the Father.
Big Problem: There are people in the church who would identify themselves as Christians even though Jesus would not identify them as such. Maybe they made some sort of profession of faith. Maybe they got baptized. Maybe they attend church. But they do not actually continue to abide in Christ and bear fruit. Over time, this shows that they are not truly saved. They have never been truly attached to the True Vine.
To be clear, bearing fruit does not save us. God’s grace saves us. But those who have been truly saved will remain connected to Jesus and bear much fruit.
Big Question: Is my connection to Christ real? Am I producing spiritual fruit in my life or do I just have a surface-level superficial association with Christ that does not truly save?
