I AM the Light of the World

In this series, we are looking at 7 statements Jesus made about Himself in the Gospel of John that begin with the words “I AM”. For the Jewish people in Jesus’ day, the title “I AM” was super meaningful. Because “I AM” was the name God gave for Himself to Moses at the burning bush. It is the basis of the name Yahweh/Jehovah.

Jesus took that title and applied it to Himself, meaning that He is God, in the flesh – the One who exists eternally, created all, and rules over all creation and all history. In this session, we focus on Jesus saying, “I AM the Light of the world.” Why would He say that?
