Awakened to a Burden
What comes to your mind when you hear "Being awakened to a burden"? You may think, “A burden? I don’t need another burden in my life – I’ve got enough weighing me down already!” But a burden from God is not a weight that crushes you – it’s an assignment that awakens you.
When God burdens your heart with something, it means He’s inviting you into His work. It means you’re seeing what He sees, caring about what He cares about. And that’s not exhausting – that’s exciting!
In this session, we’re transitioning from the book of Ezra to the book of Nehemiah. These two books tell the story of God’s people returning from exile and rebuilding their lives, their city, and their faith. Ezra and Nehemiah were originally one book in the Hebrew Bible, and they tell a continuous story. Ezra is about our relationship with the Lord. Nehemiah is about our responsibility, what we are assigned to do for the Lord.
Please find Nehemiah 1:1-2:4.
