God's choice, my choice

As we continue this series, we will look at the final verses of Psalm 78. We don’t know if this psalm was sung by the congregation or performed as a solo or presented by the choir as a cantata. But as we come to the closing lines of this song, we find God doing what only God can do: as the Lord of all and the omnipotent King of glory, He exercises what is called His sovereignty (His divine will to choose and to reject, to bless and to punish, without having to explain either His grace or His wrath).

Often, we can look back and explain all the why’s of God’s actions and the things He allows and prevents, but sometimes we simply can’t. The great mystery of God’s sovereignty is that He has sovereignly chosen to give us free will to make choices. And the even greater mystery is that He often seems to factor our choices into His choices!

Let's read Psalm 78:67-72.
