If I have Jesus & the Bible, why do I need the Church?

There is an ever-growing group of people who identify as Christians, but they aren’t involved in church. The term for this is DE-CHURCHED. They are not unchurched; most of them actually attended church. They have chosen to de-churched themselves. These are people who would say, “I love Jesus, but I’m done with organized religion. I don’t really need to go to church – my relationship with Jesus is personal.”

In the time in which we live (digital, connected, on-demand), it’s tempting to think that we have everything we need, so we don’t need the church. Why would I be a part of this official church community instead of doing my own thing, in my own way, at my own time? Because that is not what the Bible teaches.

The church is God’s plan for His people. The church is not a human invention. Half-reading the New Testament with one eye closed will still lead you to the inescapable conclusion that the church was God’s idea.

Let's read Matthew 16:15-18.
