Blessings & Curses

God promised the people of Israel a Holy Land. He gave them His holy Law. He told them how to make holy sacrifices and how to build a holy tabernacle. He gave them a holy calendar to follow. All this was a part of the holy covenant God made with them. This was so important, because when they entered the Holy Land, the land of Canaan, all the nations around them worshiped idols. They bowed down to these false gods they had made with their own hands out of wood and metal and stone. They sacrificed their children to these idols in hopes that they would hear their prayers.

The Lord said to His people, “You are not going to do that. You are going to bow down to Me. You are going to honor Me by keeping My sabbath days. You are going to worship Me in My Tabernacle – because I am the Lord, the One True God. You are going to keep My covenant.” The Lord promised His blessing, protection, guidance, presence – all because of His great heart of love. But the condition was that the people were to be loyal to Him – to keep His commandments, to worship and serve Him exclusively. If they were not loyal, then there would be consequences.

Let's look at the "IF-THEN" conditions of this covenant. Please find Leviticus 26.
