The Ministry of the Priests

Sep 8, 2024    Pastor Dan Spencer

After the years of slavery in Egypt, the dramatic exodus, the miracles, the hard lessons, and all the ramp-up to a new relationship with God – this is the “grand opening” of the Tabernacle. Moses is doing what good leaders do: he’s providing clarity. Sometimes, the man of God just needs to gather the congregation together and tell them, “This is what the Lord commanded to be done.”

Previously, God had given a lot of instructions. Next up was to ordain the priests who were going to perform all the sacrifices God required. Sacrifices were essential, because for sinners to approach a holy God, their sins had to be covered, forgiven. And the only way God provided for that to happen was with the death of a substitute (the wages of sin is death). It was Aaron and his sons who were assigned to be the priests that performed all those sacrifices.
