Hope for Sinners

In this session, we will be looking at the original Christmas song about Zacharias (the Benedictus). Here's some backstory...There was a Godly couple well advanced in years, Zacharias and Elizabeth, who had been serving God in ministry for years. They had always wanted to have children; they had been praying and praying, but it hadn’t happened.

The biggest opportunity of Zacharias’ life happens. He is called to Jerusalem to serve a rotation in the Temple and selected to go into the Holy Place to burn incense. While he is in there, the angel Gabriel appears to him. This moment ends 400 years of silence; no prophets had spoken a message from God, no angel has brought a message from God, not a single word had been heard from heaven in 400 years.
