Mission Drift

Aug 28, 2022    Pastor Dan Spencer

As we continue in this series, we will be looking at the short but powerful book of 3 John. All the other apostles had been killed at this point (martyred). John is the only one left. He is a very old man. He is not only the last living apostle – he is the world’s greatest living authority on Christ and Christianity. Because of that, John has a great deal of influence in the early church. He is inspired by God to write this letter to Gaius.

Gaius is a faithful Christian and a personal friend of John’s. We don’t know much else other than he was a leader in one of the churches John oversaw and there was a problem in that church. The church was in danger of drifting from their mission. It seems all the issues are swirling around one guy, Diotrephes.

Let's read 3 John 1-14.
