We Can't Be Silent

Jun 21, 2026    Pastor Dan Spencer

Peter and John have spent the night in jail. Now they stand before the council called the Sanhedrin – the supreme religious court of Israel, the same group that had pushed for the crucifixion of Jesus a few months earlier. Annas. Caiaphas. Scribes. Elders.

They thought they had dealt with the problem of Jesus, but two of his disciples have done what Jesus did so many times: heal the broken and proclaim the truth. A man was healed who was disabled from birth. That man had never been able to walk, but he is now healed and whole, walking and leaping and praising God.

And these disciples, Peter and John, say that Jesus did it! And when they preached to the people about Jesus (right there on the Temple grounds) – 2,000 believed in Him! So, they are brought before the Sanhedrin for a hearing.
