The Promise & the Power

Acts is a book of action. It is fast paced, beginning with 120 believers in an upper room in Jerusalem. They had no property, no budget to speak of. No media team, no social strategy, no church history to learn from. But within a generation, its enemies were forced to admit that they had “turned the world upside down” (Acts 17:6).

How did they do it? The book of Acts exists to answer that question. When you read Acts, one reality becomes impossible to ignore: this church could not be stopped. Opposition came. Persecution intensified. Leaders were imprisoned. Believers were scattered. But the church kept moving forward.

For 40 days after His resurrection, Jesus appeared to His disciples, speaking to them about the kingdom of God. He told them the plans for His Kingdom. He was setting the agenda – not just for the first disciples, but for every generation of the church until He returns. And that agenda has not changed: make disciples, advance the Gospel, bear witness to the risen Christ in our Jerusalem and to the ends of the earth.
