Mother’s Day Out Director (PT)

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS  
This staff person serves on the Grow Team led by our Grow Pastor under the supervision of the Next Gen Pastor with collaboration with the Preschool & Special Needs Director and consideration to the Mother’s Day Out (MDO) Committee to support and accomplish the mission and vision of First Baptist Church Sevierville.

PURPOSE  
The purpose of this part-time position is to lead the MDO Ministry at First Baptist Church Sevierville by recruiting, hiring, evaluating, and coaching MDO staff and volunteers and maintain a MDO Ministry centered on laying a Christ-centered spiritual foundation for children enrolled in our MDO Ministry.
 
RESPONSIBLITIES  
The person in this position must be highly relational and have a passion for working with preschool children, enjoy interacting with and equipping their parents, have a servant’s heart for members of the congregation and the community, and a gift for teaching children. Discretion must be used at all times when dealing with the business of the Church office and the assigned ministries. The ability to maintain strict confidentiality is required. On-site attendance is required during the MDO Ministry hours (Monday through Thursday 8:00am-2:30pm) unless prior approval is obtained. This person will also serve on the Next Gen Ministries team to maintain ministry continuity for all children, parents of children, and MDO staff and volunteers.  
   
DUTIES RELATING TO MOTHER’S DAY OUT DIRECTOR  
  1. Direct the planning, programming, and staffing relating to the MDO Ministry. Be available to assist in any classroom or to meet with parents.  
  2. Be a visionary and encourager. Identify and lead teachers and staff to identify the needs of the children in the MDO Ministry. Develop and plan programs in accordance with those needs.  
  3. Build a ministry team. Interview, hire, train, coach, evaluate, and supervise teachers and staff and work with church’s business office to ensure proper checks have been completed. Provide opportunities for staff to maintain CPR, AED, FA, and Child Protective training and certifications. Update and train teachers and staff with MDO Handbook. Possess the ability to use appropriate judgment, discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality. Ensure proper supervision of children is maintained at all times by securing substitute teachers and staff when necessary.  
  4. Plan and coordinate MDO Ministry activities with the church to complement and not conflict with other ministries and programs. Implement daily plan to ensure that all age groups are scheduled and cared for during program hours. The daily plan should include children’s lunch, bathroom breaks, inside/outside play times, naps and teaching sessions.  
  5. Regularly conduct meetings with teachers and staff to plan and pray for this ministry. Coordinate seamless transition for children progressing through age-appropriate teaching by working with all teachers and staff. Periodically observe classrooms, children-teacher interactions, and overall effectiveness of the MDO Ministry.
  6. Ensure a high degree of cleanliness and safety is maintained during program time and during arrival and dismissal. Ensure procedures are being followed by teachers and staff. Conduct emergency drills and ensure communication to teachers and staff is maintained at all times.
  7. Select and maintain all materials, curricula, resources, and supplies to effectively communicate God’s eternal truths and educational needs to prepare children for school.    
  8. Maintain records for each child involved in the MDO Ministry including, but not limited to while maintaining confidentiality:  
    1. Special Needs 
    2. Allergies
    3. Progress     
  9. Prepare annual budget for the MDO Ministry for church approval. Comply with the budget as approved. Purchase and oversee the use and maintenance of all supplies, equipment, and resources used by the MDO Ministry.    
  10. Maintain a working relationship with church Preschool Ministry. Coordinate with the Next Gen Ministries Administrative Assistant for clerical and administrative support needs.    
  11. Act as the communication advocate to parents, teachers and staff, committee, and church leadership via in-person, phone, or email communication.  
  12. Implement and direct proper enrollment for each child in the MDO Ministry. Including proper teacher/child ratios, enrollment/registration, parent information packets, and child progress in specific age-groups.
  13. Coordinate and partner with Next Gen Ministries through teamwork to accomplish the overall evangelism and discipleship of families with children in the MDO Ministry.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.  
   
GENERAL MINISTRY DUTIES  
Participate in staff meetings and conferences/retreats as requested.
Meet requests for action or information in a timely and Christ-like manner, even when they are outside of the direct job description.
Maintain a regular schedule of office hours during MDO Ministry times and any additional times up to 29 hours each week.
Work in coordination with the overall mission and vision of the church by following the leadership of the Senior Pastor and cooperating with the Senior Staff. Develop working relationships with MDO leadership from other churches that have advanced MDO Ministries.  

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS  
High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
College degree with a focus on child development or family studies, preferred but not required.  

OTHER  
Currently an active church member at First Baptist Church Sevierville or a willingness to move your active church membership to First Baptist Church Sevierville.
Subject to drug testing.
Subject to background check.
Cannot have been convicted of a criminal offence, including a felony or misdemeanor.
Must have competency with basic computer software and the ability to learn new programs including but not limited to: MS Office, payroll, church membership software, church financial software.

The person in this position is in a working relationship with believers and followers of Christ. Matters of the Church are seen and heard during employment. Spiritual maturity is a necessary attribute in performing the duties and responsibilities of this position. A mutually agreeable relationship with Senior Staff, co-workers, and church members is required.

The person in this position deals with delicate matters of membership and must do so with the utmost integrity.
   
Dependability and Organization  
The person in this position must possess a high level of organizational skills to provide timely information and schedules to Next Gen Pastor and when necessary to the Grow Pastor and Senior Pastor.
   
Christian Representation  
The person in this position must be able to present him/herself in a professional manner in speech, action, and dress while representing First Baptist Church, Sevierville either in person or otherwise, whether on-campus or off.
