This staff person serves specifically on a team comprised of the Mother’s Day Out (MDO) Ministry under the supervision of the Mother’s Day Out Coordinator (PT) in collaboration with the Preschool & Special Needs Director. The Mother’s Day Out Ministry is part of larger teams including Next Gen Ministries and the Grow Team to support and accomplish the mission and vision of First Baptist Church, Sevierville.

- PURPOSE
- RESPONSIBLITIES
- DUTIES RELATING TO MOTHER’S DAY OUT TEACHER
- Maintain proper planning, programming, and special activities relating to the daily tasks for the children in your care. Keeping in mind our top priority is communicating the Gospel of Jesus Christ through story, song, and hands on activities.
- Be a visionary and encourager. Coordinate with the MDO Coordinator to identify the needs of the children in your classroom. Develop and plan programs in accordance with those needs as it pertains to your classroom.
- MDO is a Ministry Team. As such, we should strive to work together in unity and love following the examples set forth in Romans 12.
- You will be required to maintain CPR, AED, FA, and Child Protective training and certifications- all of which will be paid for by the MDO Ministry. These mandatory dates will be communicated in advance and will be considered paid time outside of typical MDO hours.
- Implement a classroom schedule to ensure that all children are cared for during program hours. The daily plan should include, but is not limited to: children’s lunch, bathroom breaks, inside/outside play times, naps, Bible time and teaching sessions.
- Make it a priority to regularly attend meetings with MDO Director and staff to plan and pray for the MDO ministry. Coordinate seamless transition for children progressing through the program by working with all teachers and staff to communicate any behavior, academic or familial concerns that would adjust how classroom instruction is given.
- Ensure a high degree of cleanliness and safety is maintained during program time and during arrival and dismissal. Ensure procedures and checklists are being followed to aid in the overall cleanliness of the classroom. Conduct emergency drills, when instructed by MDO Director, and ensure communication to parents is given about such drills.
- Maintain all materials, curricula, resources, and supplies to effectively communicate God’s eternal truths and educational needs to prepare children for school. Each MDO classroom is equipped with a closet to keep these supplies. It is the duty of the classroom teacher to maintain this in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Maintain classroom records for each child involved in the MDO Ministry including, but not limited to while maintaining confidentiality:
- Special Needs
- Allergies
- Progress
- Maintain a working relationship with all church staff, giving special consideration to fellow MDO Teachers, Staff and Director.
- Act as the communication advocate to parents via in-person, phone, or email communication.
- Coordinate and partner with MDO Director and other teachers through teamwork to accomplish the overall evangelism and discipleship of families with children in the MDO Ministry. Perform other duties as assigned.
- GENERAL MINISTRY DUTIES
- Participate in MDO staff meetings and conferences/retreats, as requested.
- Meet requests for action or information in a timely and Christ-like manner, even when they are outside of the direct job description.
- Maintain a regular schedule of office hours during MDO Ministry times and any additional times up to 29 hours each week.
- Work in coordination with the overall mission and vision of the church by following the leadership of the Senior Pastor and cooperating with the Senior Staff.
- EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
- College degree with a focus on child development or family studies is preferred but not required.
- OTHER
- Preferably an active church member at First Baptist Church Sevierville or a willingness to move your active church membership to First Baptist Church Sevierville.
- Subject to drug testing.
- Subject to background check.
- Cannot have been convicted of a criminal offence, including a felony or misdemeanor.
- Must have competency with basic computer software and the ability to learn new programs including, but not limited to: MS Office, church membership software.

Spiritually Mature Christian
The person in this position is in a working relationship with believers and followers of Christ. Matters of the Church are seen and heard during employment. Spiritual maturity is a necessary attribute in performing the duties and responsibilities of this position. A mutually agreeable relationship with Senior Staff, co-workers, and church members is required.
Trustworthiness and Confidentiality
The person in this position deals with delicate matters of membership and must do so with the utmost integrity.
Dependability and Organization
The person in this position must possess a high level of organizational skills to provide timely information and schedules to Next Gen Pastor and when necessary to the Grow Pastor and Senior Pastor.
Christian Representation
The person in this position must be able to present him/herself in a professional manner in speech, action, and dress while representing First Baptist Church, Sevierville either in
person or otherwise, whether on-campus or off.
